Pursue beauty.
Above all else, be sure to factor beauty into your most important considerations in life. You won't regret it!
What Is Beauty?
Our minds are made up of many different conscious and unconscious modules. Each of which are separate from one another, yet also connected to varying extents depending on the specific modules in question.
This is what makes "domain-dependent" knowledge possible. Wherein we learn something about a specific domain (suitcase carries in the gym are good for muscle development,) and yet behave in contradiction to that new knowledge outside of that domain (we hand our heavy suitcases over to the hotel porters upon arriving.)
Our minds are made up of many modules, operating in isolation, and interacting across one another. This is true of both the conscious and unconscious.
The unconscious mind processes an incomprehensible amount of information every second, reducing it to a simplified version, and sending the important parts on to consciousness if needs be.
If, for example, a rustling in the bush close by piques our conscious attention, it's becuase the unconscious processes registered the noise and thought it necessary to alert the conscious mind to this aberration.
In this case, a false positive of assuming it's a large predatory feline would ensure an individual's survival, as it only takes a single false negative to end a person's life! Even though it's just wind, it's better to assume the worst, and maintain a wide berth.
Beauty As Concentrated Unconscious Guidance
It's my contention that the spontaneous identification of beauty is the result of unconscious modules shedding superfluous information of a given message, and presenting the conscious mind with what is left over.
This residual message is diffult to articulate, as the information needed to do so was shed at an earlier stage, yet the gist of the message is irrefutable: the desirability or aesthetic plesantness of the subject or object in question is unambiguous. This is what we call "beauty."
Let Beauty Be Thy Guide
Although it's difficult to explain to others why you chose to follow beauty, and were you to try, you might come across as a lunatic! It's a decent guiding principle worth subjugating yourself to.
So much of what passes for "environmentalism" or "environmental activism" nowadays is ugly. It's groups of morally superior people who are convinced they know better, and know how to disrupt society all the way towards their end goal. Whatever that end goal is! Be it "just stopping oil," or "extinction rebelion."
It's unattractive and unappealing, and repulses most people. That's no way to mobilise people into action, and actually solve our ecological situation.
Let beauty guide your thoughts, speech, and action, and I can guarantee your influence will grow beyond anything modern-day "environmentalists" can even imagine.
